Bike Mechanics

In an effort to promote carbon-free transportation and healthy lifestyles, Recreation offers free weekly bike maintenance sessions to the campus community. These drop-in clinics increase the number of bicycle riders by directly taking care of one of the main reasons we stop biking - we don't have a bike that works or doesn't work well.

Recreation's bike mechanics provide general basic bike maintenance, including patching tires, checking brakes, adjusting derailluers, cleaning and lubing chains and providing overall bike insprections. If you stop by with your bike requesting help you can expect friendly, non-intimidating service, the chance to learn more about how your bike works and tips for keeping it rolling.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:

  • Thorough knowledge of mechanical workings of bicycles and how to make appropriate repairs
  • Previous paid experience in maintaining bicycles preferred
  • Experience instructing a bicycle maintenance class, workshop, or clinic preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
