Mendoza named WGCA Scholar All-American

Freshman Gillian Mendoza (Rowland Heights, CA) was named All-American Scholar.

CORAL SPRINGS, Florida- Freshman Gillian Mendoza (Rowland Heights, CA) was named to the National All-American Scholar Team by the Women's Golf Coaches Association.

"Gillian Mendoza is a game changer for the UC Santa Cruz Golf Program," said head coach Paulette Pera. "Not only does G have the lowest stroke scoring average in school history, she is an Academic All American on top of it."

Mendoza, a Biology major, is the fourth UCSC golfer to earn WGCA All-American Scholar honors in the past three years, and the sixth Banana Slug to earn a national Academic All-American commendation in 2019-20. She is one of nine WGCA Scholar All-American honorees from the University of California system

A total of 1,401 women's collegiate golfers from all NCAA three Divisions were recognized with this prestigious honor. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50.
