Rec Rental Policies

General:

  1. Rental reservation requests are online only.
  2. After submitting a reservation request,  you'll receive an email confirming your PICK-UP and RETURN times.
  3. Reservation requests must be submitted at least 48 hours prior to PICKUP time. Requests will be fulfilled whenever possible. However, requests do not guarantee reservations.
  4. If you no longer need your gear, cancel at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled pick-up. Cancel your reservation by emailing Rec Rental (recrental@ucsc.edu).
  5. Reservations not picked up and not canceled at least 24 hours before scheduled pick-up will incur a $10 fee.
  6. The Renter is solely responsible for any damage, loss or theft of rented equipment.
  7. The Renter is responsible for inspecting equipment when picking it up. The Renter is responsible for the equipment's condition upon returning it.
  8. The Renter is solely responsible to return the equipment listed above in the condition it was received. Equipment may not be considered returned if it is brought back dirty. 
  9. The Renter will be responsbile for paying Cleaning Fees for any gear returned dirty or wet.
  10. When returning tents, the Renter will be responsible to set up the tent to demonstrate its returned condition.
  11. If equipment is returned after the due date, Late Fees will accrue at 50% of the weekend rate per day.
  12. If equipment is unreturned one week after the due date, the Renter will be responsible for paying Replacement Fees.
  13. For UCSC students, fees will be billed to student accounts.

Additional Fees:

  1. Replacement Fee (unreturned/destroyed equipment) = Fair Market Value
  2. Reservations nor picked up or cancelled within 24 hours of scheduled pick-up = $10
  3. Repair Cost for Damaged Equipment = $15/hour + cost of materials
  4. Cleaning Fee = $15/hour
  5. Late Fee = 50% of weekend rate per day
