Rec Rental Policies


  1. Rental reservation requests are online only.
  2. After submitting a reservation request,  you'll receive an email confirming your PICK-UP and RETURN times.
  3. Reservation requests must be submitted at least 72 hours prior to PICKUP time.
  4. The Renter is solely responsible for any damage, loss or theft of rented equipment.
  5. The Renter is responsible for inspecting equipment when picking it up. The Renter is responsible for the equipment's condition upon returning it.
  6. The Renter is solely responsible to return the equipment listed above in the condition it was received.
  7. If equipment is returned after the due date, the renter is responsible to pay additional rental fees based on the normal rental fee schedule.
  8. Equipment may not be considered returned if it is brought back dirty.
  9. When returning tents, the Renter will be responsible to set up the tent to demonstrate its returned condition.
  10. No refunds are available for cancellations less than two days prior to pick up date.
  11. All fees described above may be billed to UCSC student accounts.

Additional Fees:

  1. Replacement Fee (unreturned/destroyed equipment):
    • Less than 1 year old = 100% of cost
    • 2 years old = 75% of cost
    • 3-5 years old = 50% of cost
    • 5+ years old = 25% of cost
  2. Repair Cost for Damaged Equipment = $15/hour + cost of materials
  3. Cleaning Fee = $15/hour
  4. Late Fee = 50% of weekend rate per day
