The Department of Athletics and Recreation has approved this Election Day (November 3rd) as a mandatory full day off for all student-athletes and staff to go vote.
Student-athletes are also excused from all athletically related activities on the 3rd so that they may exercise their right to vote and also participate in civic engagement activities (volunteers, poll workers, etc).
This follows the NCAA encouraging its member institutions earlier this summer to give the day of and show the importance of voter participation.
In addition, the Department is teaming with CALPIRG and UCSC's Student Union Assembly (SUA) to sponsor a voter registration drive contest through October 19. Contest details are here.
All students are welcome to participate in the Voter Registration Contest via Intramural Sports.
