BARRE ABOVE®

Barre Above® is a totally unique approach to barre workouts as you've seen them. Fusing the best of Pilates, yoga, aerobics, and elements of the strengthening exercises dancers do, Barre Above® delivers a results-driven workout that is not only fun and dynamic, but it will sculpt your body and get you into absolutely amazing shape. When taking a Barre Above® workout you'll see improvements in your posture, flexibility, overall body strength, and balance; obtain a body awareness that you may not have had before; transform your body and feel more confident in your fitness; and establish friendships and new connections among your fellow participants. CARDIO DANCE

Invigorate and electrify your mind, body, and spirit in the high-energy, full-body workout that is Cardio Dance. Drawing inspiration from cultures around the world, each class offers a fun variety of easy and challenging steps to tone and shape muscles. No prior dance experience is necessary.

CARDIO KICKBOXING

Cardio Kickboxing is a  great workout for anyone interested in improving their fitness & stamina. This class is flexible and adaptive so that it serves the needs of all participants - it will get beginners into shape, it will challenge advanced athletes, & all genders are welcome! The class format integrates combinations of punches, kicks, body-weight strength work & heavy-bag work (when bags available). No equipment is necessary.  You will have fun, reduce stress, & get an awesome workout.

NOTE: This class encourages the use of sparring gloves (limited number provided in class) or boxing hand-wraps (available for purchase for $6.00 at the ATH-REC Wellness Center). CORE CONDITIONING

Core Conditioning is a whole-body workout that can improve your overall fitness. This class typically involves a thorough warm-up followed by a combination of cardio and strength exercises (with a strong focus on the core), finishing with a brief stretching session. The workouts are designed to build core strength and endurance, with constant modifications provided throughout the workout in order to customize this workout for each individual participant's needs.

CORE YOGA

Core Yoga takes you through an active, powerful style of yoga that combines the breath with the flow of sun-salutations into various standing and balancing poses. The practice also includes a challenging series of abdominal toners to strengthen core muscles while also providing lengthening stretches for a balanced strong and agile body.

CRUZFIT CONDITIONING

CruzFit Conditioning is a High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) workout involving explosive movement techniques within specific time domains aimed at producing increased metabolic responses. The class will include basic squatting, jumping, plyometric, and full-body movement combinations requiring minimal space and equipment, but clothing in which you are ready to SWEAT!

EMPOWERING YOGA

Using the physical practice of yoga, Empowering Yoga "empowers" students to access the internal strength and power within themselves through dynamic flows, intelligent sequencing, and a mindful balance of movement and stillness. The instructor will share with you their personal journey in order to help you deeply embrace your own inner and outer strength. The class is empowering and loving, and it pushes students to find their own unique edge whether that be physical, emotional, or otherwise. It will challenge you to believe in yourself and embrace the playful imperfection that comes with the practice of yoga. FITSTRONG

FitStrong is a class that will challenge your body with a combination of cardio and strength movement patterns, high-intensity intervals, and Tabata training. This class is perfect for anyone trying to improve their fitness and health. Beginners can work at their own levels and intermediate and advanced students will be pushed to their limit by this full-body workout.

FIT BARRE

Fit Barre combines elements of the standard Barre-Method workout with additional emphases on the core (whole-body exercises targeting the muscles which play the greatest role in body change). The workout is followed by intense stretching that makes you feel longer and leaner.

FLOW YOGA

Flow Yoga is another name for Vinyasa yoga. It is a yoga practice that unifies breath with movement through a flowing sequence of postures. This is an all-levels class that offers something for everyone - poses that build strength, endurance, increase flexibility, reduce stress, and enhance overall well-being. Modifications of poses will be offered so that you can make the class easier or more challenging to meet your needs.

HIP-HOP

Hip-Hop is a fun, exciting, and appropriately challenging aerobic-dancing workout that's designed with all levels for dancers - and non-dancers - in mind.  Come get your groove on and learn how to dance in this 2-part dance fitness class! For the first half of class, we’ll get our hearts pumping by dancing to well known tunes with easy to follow along moves. Then we’ll switch gears and learn a real choreography step by step. By the end of class you’ll walk away knowing a cool combo you can show off to your friends. It’s a dance workout and a tutorial all in one!!

INDOOR CYCLING

Indoor Cycling boosts your muscle endurance and heart health using challenges of speed, strength, and stamina. By the end of a class, you'll have a steady stream of endorphins and will be motivated by a variety of music and video inspiration. These 45-50 minute workouts are a low-impact way to get a high-intensity cardio workout while also working your lower body muscles, especially your glutes and quads.

INSANITY

Insanity  is a revolutionary cardio-based total body conditioning program based on the principles of MAX Interval Training. By using MAX Interval Training,  Insanity  pushes the participant to new training heights, resulting in more calories burned, faster results, and a more efficient metabolism.

IYENGAR YOGA

Iyengar Yoga is a form of Hatha yoga (a yoga system of physical exercises and breathing control) named after B.K.S Iyengar. Mr. Iyengar was considered one of the foremost yoga teachers in the world. He died in Pune, India, in 2014 at the ripe old age of 96. Iyengar style yoga places an emphasis on detail, precision, and alignment in the performance of postures ("asanas") and breath-control ("pranayama"). Students develop strength, mobility, stability, and piece-of-mind through practicing the asanas. Another characteristic of Iyengar yoga is the use of props such as blocks, belts, blankets, bolsters, sandbags, etc. to support students in their practice.

MAT PILATES

Mat Pilates uses a series of exercise routines designed to increase your core strength & improve your posture, energy, & flexibility. Pilates work is powered by breath, flow, & centering. MOVE & MEDITATE

Move & Meditate taps into yoga's original purpose: to prepare the body to be still and sit comfortably in meditation. In each class, we will focus on opening and mobilizing the body and conclude with a guided meditation. This class is ideal for those who want to take it slow, have time to indulge in each posture, and move just for the simple bliss of movement. No prior experience is necessary and all levels are welcome.

OULA DANCE®

Oula Dance® is an easy-to-follow, high cardio, dance fitness class for people of all abilities. POWER YOGA

POWER YOGA is a fitness-based vinyasa practice, which has its roots in Ashtanga yoga. RESTORATIVE YOGA

Restorative Yoga is the practice of stretching postures held for longer durations with the support of props such as bolsters and blocks to provide a deeper experience, relax the body, and reduce stress. Restorative yoga evolved from the teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar and brings the body into a state of peace and healing. This practice is recommended as a recovery technique for active and athletic persons, and also great to help quiet active minds!

SUNRISE YOGA

Sunrise Yoga involves a series of Vinyasa yoga sequences that are tailored for beginners as well as experienced yoga practitioners. Vinyasa yoga emphasizes breath to movement, meaning that with each change of breath you flow through the next posture. Every class begins with the basic Sun Salutations followed by strengthening postures, balancing poses, and stretching, and then a variety of additional core exercises are included throughout each class. The instructor demonstrates each pose as she cues them so that students are fully aware of how to do each posture.

Props are not required, but a yoga mat is highly recommended. Additional props such as blocks and blankets may be suggested, but will always be speciied at the beginning of the class. TOTAL-BODY HIIT

TOTAL-BODY CONDITIONING

Get in shape “boot camp” style with Total Body Conditioning! This class uses "Tabata" intervals, designed by Japanese scientist Izumi Tabata, to challenge participants with short bursts of high-intensity, interval-training that target the major muscle groups of the upper & lower body, specifically designed to “make it rain” sweat! From circuit-style routines that jump-start cardio fitness, to creative muscle-toning exercises using dumbbells, medicine balls, or even the participant’s body weight, each class brings its own unique challenges. No two classes are the same! Students will work the quarter to improve cardiovascular stamina, core strength, & flexibility.

TRX ® ( Total-body Resistance X-training)

TRX ® Training will push you to new levels of strength using the TRX Suspension Trainer® and your own body weight. Be ready to “feel the burn” as you power through multiple sets of high tension loads in this time-based workout that features intermediate to advanced strength exercises.
